The Human-Nature Quest
A Wilderness Journey Exploring Your Gift to the World

Self-Discovery & Personal Leadership

Why not step away from the demands of everyday life for a wek and come on a nature therapy retreat in the Norwegian Fjells?

The Human-Nature Quest is a 7-day personal leadership retreat and a wilderness journey for self-growth, offering an opportunity for personal reflection in the wild. Shedding the layers of modern life, you’ll step into nature’s wisdom and find courage, purpose, and transformation in a small group setting.

In this week you find clarity through wilderness meditation, guided practices, individual reflection and sharings, to grow both personally and spiritually.
And maybe most important: You will experience the freedom that comes with a simple life outside.

Are you ready to answer the call for change?

★★★★

“The facilitators, Manuel and Thoralf, have both an eye and a heart for this type of course, where the outer landscape becomes a mirror of the inner landscape and vice versa. A very healing format for these disorienting times!”

What shape waits in the seed of you

to grow & spread its branches
against a future sky?

(Self)-awareness
The power for change in your life
In resonance with your environment, you can explore your own humanity and your relationship with the world. It’s about recognising who you truly are and what you live for. We stand by you to explore your dreams and motivations and, equally, to face fear and pain.

The self-awareness you gain in this process provides you with confidence and enhances your change-making abilities. Through our own experiences and our work as nature mentors, we know the energy that this work can unleash. From it, you draw the strength to change your life, and consciously, pro-actively shape it.

Discovery journey
into the (inner) wilderness
The program is inspired by Joanna Macy (Active Hope, The Work that Reconnects), John P. Milton (The Way of Nature), Bill Plotkin (The Journey of Soul Initiation), Hartmut Rosa (Resonance), Otto Scharmer (Theory U), and Jon Young (Connection First).

We roam through the trackless wilderness of Norway, moving from (wild) campsite to campsite, and on other days stay put where we are. Media, phones, and time are left behind. We carry only the essentials: sleeping bag, tarp, and food. We get drinking water from streams and lakes and cook over a campfire.

  • Contact with your own body

By living outside and daily body practice.

  • Release energy blockages

During guided nature exercises and movement.

  • Expand perception

Through increased awareness in our senses.

  • Become aware of your own life story

Using the nature element storytelling technique.

  • Clarify fears and goals

Medicine and Vision walk to a ancient mountain.

  • Explore personal paths to the future

Reflections alone, in pairs and as a group.

You’ll need to carry your own backpack and some group gear for half a day, when we move to our next camp sites.  No previous outdoor experience is required, and you don’t need to be super fit to join—just bring a willingness to engage and explore, within and without!

You will sleep under a tarp, which we will provide, along with instructions on how to set it up for yourself. We will set up a big tarp for the whole group, where we will gather, cook, and stay dry and comfortable around the fire in case of wind & rain.

  • In this course, we will all pitch in together, whether it’s cooking, transporting equipment, keeping watch over the fire or collecting wood. We work together as a team.
Of course, there will also be time to rest and enjoy the enchanting landscape.
  • You should be willing to actively contribute to daily tasks in the camp. You should also be ready to face challenges together with your group and support each other.
  • We invite you to a media- and clock-free time. We want to do without phones during these days together, even though they will be with us in our luggage for safety reasons. Course leaders carry phones and satellite emergency transmitter, and take care of photography.
  • On the first day everyone will be invited to seal their phones and watches turned off in seal bags.

We support you in seeking ways to meet the dual responsibility – for yourself and the world. Discovering the meaning in your life and growing into your true life’s purpose.

What makes our courses & journeys unique?

  • Personal Growth and Leadership

Immersing ourselves in wild nature, being part of a small group provides the ideal environment for personal reflection. We encourage participants to develop inner resilience, self-awareness, and leadership qualities that can be applied in all areas of life.

  • Connection to Nature and Our Role

What is our role in the natural world and within the larger ecosystem? How do we understand our place as humans in it? Our journeys invite participants to reflect on these questions. We aim to foster a deep understanding of our responsibilities within nature.

  • The Inner and Outer Wilderness

In the wilderness, we are pushed to our limits, often revealing the masks we wear in everyday life. Our journeys encourage participants to embrace this raw authenticity, inspiring them to live more freely and reconnect with their wild, true selves.

  • Eco-Philosophy in Action

True care for nature comes from a genuine sense of connection. By teaching survival and bushcraft skills, we allow participants to engage directly with the natural world, fostering a sense of reliance on and respect for the environment.

  • Balancing the High-Tech World

In an increasingly connected world, we often feel more disconnected and stressed. Our courses offer a deliberate break from technology, allowing participants to experience a phone-free environment. Through that we create space for deeper presence.
